IT help for small offices

The Wi-Fi drops in the back room, the new laptop needs setting up, the printer works for one person, and nobody knows whether the backups run. I fix the everyday technology small offices depend on, on site in the Flathead Valley or remotely.

In short

Network and Wi-Fi setup, new computers, printers, backups, email, password managers and two-factor sign-in for small offices. On-site visits in Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Evergreen, Somers, Lakeside, Martin City and Hungry Horse. Remote help anywhere. Quoted per visit or per job. No managed IT contracts, 24/7 cover or advanced security services.

What I help with

Everyday office technology

Network and Wi-Fi

Router and access point setup, coverage for the whole building, a separate guest network, and basic firewall settings.

New computers

Buying advice, setup, updates, moving files and programs from the old machine, and wiping the old one properly.

Printers and devices

Printers and scanners that work for everyone on the network, plus label printers, card readers and other peripherals.

Backups and storage

A simple backup plan for the files that matter, cloud storage that is organized so people can find things, and a test restore to prove it works.

Email and accounts

Mail set up on phones and computers, shared mailboxes, domain and DNS problems, and moving from one provider to another.

Passwords and 2FA

A password manager for the team, two-factor sign-in on email and banking, and removing old staff from accounts.

On site

Flathead Valley visits

Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Evergreen, Somers, Lakeside, Martin City and Hungry Horse. Best for networks, new hardware, printers and anything you need to point at. Quoted per visit, with any travel stated up front.

Remote

Screen share, anywhere

Email problems, software installs, account and settings changes, and most troubleshooting. Usually quicker to schedule and cheaper than a visit.

Limits

What this service is not

Being clear about this up front saves both of us time.

  • Not a managed IT contract with guaranteed response times or 24/7 cover
  • Not certified enterprise network engineering, server rooms or structured cabling
  • Not penetration testing, incident response or compliance audits such as HIPAA or PCI
  • Not hardware sales. I recommend, you buy, I set it up

Questions

IT setup: common questions

Do you offer on-site IT support in Kalispell?

Yes. On-site visits cover Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Evergreen, Somers, Lakeside, Martin City and Hungry Horse. Many problems can be fixed faster and cheaper remotely, so I will usually suggest a remote session first.

Do you offer 24/7 support or managed IT?

No. Code Hawk is one person, and I won't promise around-the-clock cover I cannot provide. If your business needs a managed IT provider with guaranteed response times, I can help you choose one and set things up so the handover is clean.

Can you help us choose new computers?

Yes. Tell me what the computer is for and your budget, and I will recommend specific models, explain what is worth paying for, then set it up and move your files and programs across when it arrives. I don't sell hardware or take commissions.

Do you handle cybersecurity?

I set up the basics that prevent most small-business incidents: a password manager, two-factor sign-in, updates turned on, sensible router and Wi-Fi settings, and backups that are tested. I'm not a security firm and don't do penetration testing, incident response or compliance audits. For those I will refer you to a specialist.

Next step

Something in the office not working?

A few sentences is enough to start. I will reply within one business day with questions or a rough price, and there is no charge for the first conversation.
